Dr. Brandon Hollihan is thrilled to be at First United Methodist Church in South Bend and returning to work and worship in a Methodist setting. Previous church positions include serving as the music director at First Presbyterian Church Mishawaka and at Northwest United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Hollihan recently completed his DMA in choral conducting through the Sacred Music Program at Notre Dame, where he also earned a Bachelor’s in vocal performance. He also holds Master’s degrees in voice and conducting from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Hollihan has invested his time as a musician in performance, church music, and education as well. Recent works conducted include Steve Reich’s Tehillim, off of which his dissertation research was based, Schoenberg’s “Friede auf Erden,” Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Haydn’s Creation, and several Bach cantatas. He has also sung with South Bend Lyric Opera and Opera Columbus, and is a skilled keyboardist with a particular interest in Beethoven’s piano sonatas for solo recitals. He seeks to program outstanding musical works for the purpose of praising God and enhancing worship for the congregation.
